Katherine Chua – Spokesperson, Inflection Point NZ

Katherine Chua is the spokesperson and a key organizer for Inflection Point NZ. An Auckland mother of five, Chua became active in local school communities to oppose the inclusion of gender ideology in the new Relationships and Sexuality Education (RSE) guidelines. She has written blogs and spoken out in media on parents’ rights and concerns over transgender issues in schools. Chua served as the Master of Ceremonies for the “Unsilenced” summit and was quoted as the official IPNZ representative in press releases and media. For example, she gave interviews and statements highlighting data from the UK Cass Review and Pharmac, arguing New Zealand health officials were endangering children by over-prescribing puberty blockers. “We are de-sexing our children like you would a pet,” Chua controversially stated, underscoring her alarmist messaging. As IPNZ’s public face, she emphasizes uniting people “from all backgrounds” – even noting the summit had both Brian Tamaki and members of the LGBT community speaking, in a bid to show broad concern over transgender policy. Chua does not have a high-profile prior public career; her emergence in 2023/24 seems directly tied to Inflection Point’s founding. She is likely involved in coordinating IPNZ’s campaigns and communications behind the scenes. (Chua’s background, per IPNZ, includes being a “homemaker” who turned into an activist out of concern for her children’s education.) She has little known social media, focusing instead on press engagements and community meetings. Chua’s measured but firm public statements – e.g. calling out “so-called experts” with “little or no formal qualifications” influencing policy – have made her a relatable voice to some parents uneasy about gender topics in schools.
