Secret Rightwing Plot to Hijack Wellington’s 2025 Election!

They’ve called the mayor a “diversity hire”. They mock transgender athletes. They spread wild rumours about drunken joyrides. And now, they’re plotting a full-scale political coup in Wellington. Welcome to the dark, disturbing world of Better Wellington.

A shadowy rightwing group, Better Wellington, is plotting to hijack the 2025 local body elections in New Zealand’s capital with a vicious campaign of lies, leaks, and anti-trans propaganda! This conspiracy-aligned crew is pumping out vile content at a feverish pace, hell-bent on toppling Mayor Tory Whanau and reshaping Wellington’s future to fit their twisted agenda. But who are the masterminds behind this scandalous scheme, and what do they want?

Mayor Tory Whanau Under Fire: “Drunk Driving” Slurs and Transphobic Tirades!

Better Wellington has launched a full-frontal assault on Mayor Tory Whanau, branding her a “diversity hire” pushing a “trans agenda” in a series of jaw-dropping satirical videos. The group’s venomous clips even depict Whanau drunk behind the wheel, cruelly mocking her admitted struggles with alcohol. Their Twitter page—followed by a measly 69 users—spews anti-trans bile, reposting hateful rants about Olympic athletes. With a flood of posts on Twitter and Facebook since July, these keyboard warriors are pumping out content like there’s no tomorrow. But who’s bankrolling this relentless smear machine?

The Sinister Trio: Meet the Puppet Masters!

At the heart of Better Wellington’s dark operation is Paul Heffernan, a shady figure who once peddled a so-called “miracle cure” for anxiety and depression through his MindShift program—charging desperate Kiwis up to $5,995 for a 2-3 day “fix”! Heffernan’s name is plastered on the group’s website, and he’s not alone. Gary Moller, a 2022 parliamentary protest veteran and frequent guest on the fringe Reality Check Radio, is a key player. Moller’s been cozying up to NZ First, urging his “freedom” followers to infiltrate the party and bend it to their will.

Then there’s Glenn Inwood, a political mercenary with a rap sheet that includes shilling for Big Tobacco and the whaling industry. Inwood’s no stranger to controversy—he was a key figure in the 2022 protests and a go-between for Act’s David Seymour. He’s also the mastermind behind Resistance Kiwi, a now-defunct conspiracy hub that spread vicious lies about Mayor Whanau last year, sparking false rumors about a nonexistent video. Inwood’s even taken the stage at an anti-trans event at Tākina, spewing divisive rhetoric. These three musketeers of mayhem are clearly up to no good!

LEAKED EMAILS & COUNCILLOR COLLUSION: Is a Mole Feeding the Fire?

In a bombshell twist, Better Wellington’s Facebook page dropped leaked emails from deputy mayor Laurie Foon to all councillors, hinting at a secret alliance with at least one sitting councillor. Who’s the turncoat spilling council secrets to this rogue outfit? The plot thickens! The group’s already cozying up to councillor and mayoral wannabe Ray Chung, while in 2022 they backed failed mayoral candidate Andy Foster (now an NZ First MP) and councillors Nicola Young, Diane Calvert, Tony Randle, and Tim Brown. Are these the chosen ones to carry out Better Wellington’s shadowy agenda?

Inwood is the man behind Resistance Kiwi, a conspiracy website, social media account and Telegram group, most of which are now defunct. The Resistance Kiwi Twitter account appears to have been the original source of the false online rumours spread last year about a video of Tory Whanau. The account posted the earliest public reference to the rumours, seven days before RNZ published a story based on them (without any evidence that the video existed).

Heffernan and Inwood were both listed as directors of the SB Group, a registered third-party promoter at the 2023 election which ran ads on behalf of Shane Jones and NZ First. The SB Group promoted the website VoteWise, which urged National voters to pick Jones as a strategic choice.

Who do they support?

The Better Wellington Facebook page recently posted leaked emails sent by deputy mayor Laurie Foon to all councillors, which suggests Better Wellington is in fairly close contact with at least one current councillor.

The group hasn’t explicitly endorsed any candidate yet, though it has published announcements on behalf of councillor and mayoral contender Ray Chung. In 2022, Better Wellington endorsed Andy Foster for mayor. Foster lost the election and has since become an NZ First MP. Other current councillors endorsed by the group in 2022 include: Ray Chung, Nicola Young, Diane Calvert, Tony Randle and Tim Brown.

A MYSTERIOUS PLAN TO SEIZE POWER: What’s Next for 2025?

Better Wellington claims it’ll back candidates based on six secret “policy pillars”—but they’re keeping them under wraps, promising to reveal them “in due course.” What are they hiding? With their obsessive posting and deep ties to NZ First, this group smells like trouble. Are they plotting to flood Wellington with rightwing cronies and turn the capital into a battleground for their anti-cycleway, anti-Māori ward, rate-hating crusade?

One thing’s clear: Better Wellington’s out to stir up a storm, and they won’t stop until the 2025 election. Wellingtonians, brace yourselves—this political scandal is just getting started!

Stay tuned for more explosive updates as we dig deeper into this conspiracy!
